3rd Airport of Istanbul: ISL International Airport

On October 29th, the Republic Day of Turkey, 3rd Airport of Istanbul has opened. It is considered to be the biggest Airport in the world. When it is fully operational, it will be capable of having 200 million travelers per year. At the moment, there are only 4 arrivals and 4 departure flights operating as the airport is not fully functional.

The new airport will be in full operational mode by the end of 2021. There is still a lot of work to be done for this airport. As the IST Ataturk International Airport was not enough for the amount of passengers traveling through Turkey, it was time to move to somewhere to extend the operations of Turkish Airlines and increase the amount of people traveling to Turkey.

The ISL International Airport will replace the current IST Ataturk International Airport by the end of 2021. All of the operations will move to the new airport for good and IST Airport will become the “Garden of the People”. This park will also be one of the biggest parks in the world.

We have been working really hard to understand the dynamics, pick-up and drop-off procedures of the new ISL Airport to make our clients travel plans as seamless as it should be. DTLS Limousine & Travel has been the limousine service industry leader in Turkey. It is our duty to provide the exceptional service for all clientele. In our opinion, transfers in between the ISL Airport to downtown Istanbul (European Side) will take at least one hour; during normal times. During rush hour, we believe that it will take  upto two hours for a one single transfer.

It was not easy to build to world’s biggest airport, which took about 76km2 space to Istanbul, heart of Turkey. Therefore, it had be built outside of the city. The new ISL Airport is located at the northern most part of the European side in Arnavutkoy district. It is near the Black Sea, similar to the current main airport being next to Marmara Sea. New ISL Airport is about 39kms away from the IST Ataturk International Airport, 50kms away from downtown Europe and 80kms away from SAW International Airport. All of the stated distances are all estimated as the traffic can ben unpredictable. Drive times between these locations will be second major discussion point that will be in all travelers mind. Depending on the route that is taken will be the determinant of the drive time. At the moment, we cannot predict the approximate drive time between the ISL International Airport to any of the locations as the Airport still not fully functional. But we will definitely be looking into approximate drive time’s depending on what time of the day that is being traveled.

The new ISL Airport will not be handling any private jets. All of the private jets that will be arriving into Turkey will land at the SAW International Airport in Istanbul when all of the IST Airport’s operations moved to ISL International Airport. Second closest private jet handling will be operated at the TEQ Corlu Airport in Tekirdag which is about 120kms away from downtown Istanbul.

The government strongly believes and indicates that the new Airport in Istanbul will contribute to bringing more tourists and increase the volume of people that will be using Turkish Airlines. In the meantime, Turkish Airlines is marketing them as the only Airliner Company that flies to most cities around the world. Biggest airport in the world and an airliner that flies to most countries does sound like a good combination so we will see how that plays out in the near future.

In conclusion, DTLS Limousine & Travel will continue to publish any news regarding the new ISL Airport and its operations. Our luxury limousine services and VIP Meet & Greet operations will continue at the new ISL Airport. In addition, DTLS Limousine & Travel will continue to train our chauffeurs and reservationists to inform all of our clients.
