As the COVID-19 Pandemic has kept millions of people under lock down all around the world, Turkish Government followed the international guidelines and regulations according to World Health Organization and decided to keep the Turkish people under lockdown on special terms.
Current lock down situation in Turkey is divided in to two parts; weekdays and weekends. We are currently facing stay home lockdown on weekdays from 21:00-05:00 (9pm-5am) and on the weekends starting from Friday 21:00 until early Monday morning 05:00 (from Friday 9pm until Monday 5am). This is a very reasonable lockdown terms when compared to the terms that are being applied in Europe last few months.
All of the bars and restaurants are closed and they are allowed only pick-up or delivery to prevent people getting together in public. So basically, the government is trying to keep its people to stay home on the weekdays by saying “please go home after work” and “stay home on the weekends” in order to keep the causation numbers low.
However, there are some exceptions to these new laws and regulations as life has not completely came to a halt in Turkey. Hotels, malls, stores in the old town and Grand Bazaar are still open to public. More and more businesses are reopening and operating everyday. More Domestic and International flights are taking place with the new sanitation laws which is the most common by wearing our masks.
There is a catch for all tourists and international travelers that visit Turkey, all of the new laws and regulations that are going on in Turkey do not apply to tourists. That’s right, there is no curfew for tourists. They are allowed to travel at any time of the day and anytime of the week.
